1. A friend of mine, who also grew up around here said that his ambition was “be one of the people who made a difference in the world”, and that he hoped “to leave the world a little better for my having been here.” That friend was Jim Henson. And, if I say so myself, he certainly left this a better place for having been here.

2. You are all sitting here listening to me – a talking amphibian. That alone is a radical act of creativity. It’s what I call a “conspiracy of craziness”.

3. I believe creativity is an inherent part of everyone.

4. There are as many ways to be creative as there are Muppets. And believe you me, there are a lot of Muppets. I oughta know; I gotta meet payroll every week.

5. Have what Jim Henson liked to call “ridiculous optimism”. Without it, we wouldn’t have this amazing world we live in.

6. So, never worry about failure. It’s GONNA happen. But that’s okay: go ahead, take chances….and you might just find that what feels like failure isn’t failure at all, it’s what inspires you to dream even bigger.

7. The mind of a child is a beginner’s mind and, for them, every idea is fresh, stimulating and leads somewhere surprising.

8. Like Michael Caine… told me on the set of Muppet Christmas Carol: “Never get between the pig and the camera.” That’s why he has an Oscar.

9. Finally, there’s one other thing that I think every person or frog needs to be creative: friends. For me, the best part of creativity is collaborating with friends and colleagues. Mine happen to be bears, pigs, rats and penguins, but you go with what works for you.

10. As we go through life, we’re piling on deeper and deeper layers of consciousness, which leads to a greater capacity to take multiple perspectives. It’s a little like the many layers of dessert piled on Miss Piggy’s plate at an all-you-can-eat buffet. Only here, it’s less carbs and more nutrition.

 Icked - Kyla Tilley

Walled within my cubicle grey carpet walls all wired in to systems down

Sitting in my business casual although there were no skill requirements here

On Friday pay my dollar for the privilege to wear jeans and sneakers all week-end long

Just another shitty occupation masquerading as a real career

And it makes me want to hurt myself and others

It makes me whine, it makes me sit and cry

It makes me laugh with psychotic abandon

And it makes me hate everything about the world

My friends are worried for my well being it's very kind of them to think of me here

Going blind from blinking screens displaying billing inquiries I can't decipher

There's a ringing in my ear oh wait that's meant to be there that's the job description

Is it morning night or noon a Monday Wednesday Friday I don't know anymore

But I know I want to hurt myself and others

I know I need to drink myself to sleep

I know it's wrong to do this to my body

I don't care I hate everything about the world

And there's a world outside

A sky overhead this windowless cavern

Dotted with sprinklers in case of a fire

Cause fires are likely when you treat adults like they're five

Living break to break I watch the clock obediently waiting for my set time

Enter password rank and SIN employee number just for 15 minutes of air

There's many doors but just one works the others are all decoys there to keep us inside

To eat their cancer-causing vended processed microwavable meals that are nutrient free

And it makes me want to hurt myself and others

It makes me whine, it makes me sit and cry

It makes me laugh with psychotic abandon

And it makes me hate everything about the world

It makes me ponder on

The world's darkest prisons and do they comply to ISO standard nine thousand and one

Or do they have much better systems in place

Here they recommend that you partake in taking toxic drinks to keep you awake

Playing games to boost moral and big fake smiles no using common sense for positive change Remember we're a team but don't ask questions no one knows or cares we're here for our pay

No one there to bother with enforcing their collection of arbitrary rules

And it makes me want to hurt myself and others

It makes me whine, it makes me sit and cry

It makes me laugh with psychotic abandon

And it makes me hate everything about the world

Still I rise (Y aun así… yo me levanto) de Maya Angelou

Still I rise (Y aun así… yo me levanto) de Maya Angelou

You may write me down in history

With your bitter, twisted lies,

You may trod me in the very dirt

But still, like dust, I’ll rise.

Does my sassiness upset you?

Why are you beset with gloom?

‘Cause I walk like I’ve got oil wells

Pumping in my living room.

Just like moons and like suns,

With the certainty of tides,

Just like hopes springing high,

Still I’ll rise.

Did you want to see me broken?

Bowed head and lowered eyes?

Shoulders falling down like teardrops.

Weakened by my soulful cries.

Does my haughtiness offend you?

Don’t you take it awful hard

‘Cause I laugh like I’ve got gold mines

Diggin’ in my own back yard.

You may shoot me with your words,

You may cut me with your eyes,

You may kill me with your hatefulness,

But still, like air, I’ll rise.

Does my sexiness upset you?

Does it come as a surprise

That I dance like I’ve got diamonds

At the meeting of my thighs?

Out of the huts of history’s shame

I rise

Up from a past that’s rooted in pain

I rise

I’m a black ocean, leaping and wide,

Welling and swelling I bear in the tide.

Leaving behind nights of terror and fear

I rise

Into a daybreak that’s wondrously clear

I rise

Bringing the gifts that my ancestors gave,

I am the dream and the hope of the slave.

I rise.

I rise.

I rise.

—————————

¿Me quieres ver destrozada?

No te tomes tan a pecho

yo me levanto.

Desde el pasado enraizado en dolor,

yo me levanto.

Soy un océano negro, amplio e inquieto,

manando,

me extiendo, sobre la marea,

dejando atrás noches de temor, de terror.

Me levanto,

a un amanecer maravillosamente claro,

me levanto,

Me levanto.

Me levanto.

Me levanto.

somebodys mother (notas)

Somebody's Mother - Mary Dow Brine (1816-1913)

The woman was old and ragged and gray

And bent with the chill of the Winter's day.

The street was wet with a recent snow

And the woman's feet were aged and slow.

She stood at the crossing and waited long,

Alone, uncared for, amid the throng

Of human beings who passed her by

Nor heeded the glance of her anxious eyes.

Down the street, with laughter and shout,

Glad in the freedom of "school let out,"

Came the boys like a flock of sheep,

Hailing the snow piled white and deep.

Past the woman so old and gray

Hastened the children on their way.

Nor offered a helping hand to her -

So meek, so timid, afraid to stir

Lest the carriage wheels or the horses' feet

Should crowd her down in the slippery street.

At last came one of the merry troop,

    The gayest laddie of all the group;

He paused beside her and whispered low,

"I'll help you cross, if you wish to go."

Her aged hand on his strong young arm

She placed, and so, without hurt or harm,

He guided the trembling feet along,

Proud that his own were firm and strong.

Then back again to his friends he went,

His young heart happy and well content.

"She's somebody's mother, boys, you know,

For all she's aged and poor and slow,

"And I hope some fellow will lend a hand

To help my mother, you understand,

"If ever she's poor and old and gray,

When her own dear boy is far away."

And "somebody's mother" bowed low her head

In her home that night, and the prayer she said

Was "God be kind to the noble boy,

Who is somebody's son, and pride and joy!"

Romance del prisionero (notas)

 Romance del prisionero

Que por mayo era por mayo

cuando hace el calor,

cuando los trigos encañan

y están los campos en flor,

cuando canta la calandria

y responde el ruiseñor,

cuando los enamorados

van a servir al amor;

sino yo, triste, cuitado,

que vivo en esta prisión,

que ni sé cuándo es de día

ni cuándo las noches son,

sino por una avecilla

que me cantaba al albor.

Matómela un ballestero;

Solo quiero q seas feliz

En este camino de la vida

q nos ha separado..

En esta soledad ansiada y necesitada..

Confio q estaras mejor q conmigo

q aunq hayan pasado cosas malas

y aunq duela

debo cerrar este capitulo de mi vida

y comenzar a escribir uno nuevo

I want To Become Your Bird

Si Solamente Pudiera Convertirme en un Pajaro

Nada Podria Lastimarme mas

Nadie Me hundiria con su Odio

Atrapado en una jaula

Incluso si no me amas, estare bien

Si solo Tuviera Permiso Para Vivir a tu Lado

Seguramente Solo con Eso

Encontraria la Felicidad.

Vi el muro en tu corazon...

e intente atravesarlo.

Iba cada noche...

y caia en cada intento.

Ni alas, ni sogas

ni bombas

podian hacer que atravesara

ese muro.

Cada vez me sentia

mas lejos de ti,

de ocupar un lugar

ahi.

Un dia cansada de todo esto

te lo dije,

te maldije y...

lloraste.

A la noche siguiente

el muro tenia un gran agujero.

Cuando lo atravese

para llegar al lugar tan ansiado..

descubri que en el muro de ladrillos

llevaba algo escrito en grande..

mi Nombre..

... mi Nombre destruido

por culpa del agujero

por el cual traspase

hasta llegar ahi..

yo Sola me Elimine de ahi..

y Solo quedo tu Corazon Herido..
